Essential Oils for your health…

So many times I talk about whole food for our health…. But let’s not forget the value of essential oils, which IS the blood line OF THE PLANT!  To me, my body feels healthiest when I am on a plant based diet….for some people, they feel a need to have dairy and meats… but regardless of our food CONSUMPTION I believe everyone can benefit from using quality essential oils.  ForeverGreen has them!

Do you know what is believed to be the oldest medicine known to man?  Here is a hint: they are more precious than gold, silver, and even precious gems.  The answer: Essential Oils.

Essential oils are the lifeblood of plants, herbs, spices and flowers, and they bring the life force and energy of the plant kingdom to the human race.

When I began my “challenge” and stopped drinking both caffeine and alcohol on day TWO had a splitting headache.  Rather than take a couple of Tylenol with water, I used 2 drops of peppermint essential oil on my temples and drank lots of fresh water.  It worked- and it is natural!

For those of you who read about my morning ritual of a liver cleanse in the morning…Instead of using anything pharmaceutical for the cleanse I used ½ fresh lemon, 1-2 drops of both peppermint and lemon essential oil in warm water.  Affordable, delicious and works!

Check out our new PERFECT 10 PACK which offers a sampling of some of the most popular essential oils and our exclusive HYDRessence Plant Life Concentrates.  One of my favorite oils of all time is lavender, which is in this pack, as well as Quiescent – which helps you unwind and feel at peace. Go to   and click on TRUE ESSENCE.  In this pack you will also get a helpful “wheel” that assists you with what oils to use for what affliction.

Day 6- Time Flies When You Are Having Fun!

Day 6…. Time Flies when you’re having fun!

Actually I am quite amazed that today is Day 6 on this “10 Day Challenge”…. I thought it was day 5 – which is a good sign that things must be going well- and they are!

Today I went to the doctor for my annual exam and had my blood pressure taken, among other things like cholesterol etc.  I won’t divulge how much lower my blood pressure was today, on day 6 – I’ll wait until the end of the 10 days but suffice to say, WHOLE FOOD NUTRITION IS GOOD FOR YOUR HEALTH.  I am stoked!  The inches and weight loss are great….but when you get right down to it, it is how you FEEL and it is about your HEALTH that really matters.

I encourage each and every person who may be dialed into the BLOG from time to time, to take more time to plan your meals…to have healthy whole foods on hand so that when you are hungry- you have healthy choices.  One thing about ForeverGreen’s whole food line is they are literally “Healthy Fast Foods”…. and absolutely a great quick and healthy way to fill in nutritional gaps.

Say Good Bye to the S.A.D. diet (Standard American Diet) and Hello to WHOLE FOODS!  Eat more raw foods as well… it ads bulk to your diet, keeping you feeling full and your digestion healthy.

K.I.S.S. = Keep it simple, silly!  Mother Nature was complex- so we don’t have to be!

If there is anyone “out there” who would like to be a part of a 10 Day Challenge in the future, please let me know who you are.  Keep in mind, the Average American gains 8-9 lbs over the holidays, don’t let that person be you!

No Shopping, or Chopping….

I am loving the convenience of the whole food product line that I am consuming for 10 days straight.  Today was Day 4…. A lazy Sunday.

Great food-

    No Shopping

         No Chopping

Whole Food Nutrition at it’s best!

What can I say?  I am loving this nutritional program and am so satisfied.  The only “chopping I did” (and actually it wasn’t even me, it was Dave) was a small raw salad with raw broccoli, splash of onion, Braggs amino acids, olive oil and ground pepper.  To really taste and appreciate the crunchy texture and flavors of raw broccoli without covering it with creamy dressings was a real treat!

Cruising right along, Day 5 tomorrow or “over the hump day”.  What I had hoped is occurring.  My natural desire to continue with this kind of food regime is definitely something I will do.

I am more energetic, I am sleeping sounder, have NO cravings and I am extremely satisfied and full after each meal.  Did I mention yet that I have lost many inches??? Clothes are fitting better!

Thank you, ForeverGreen….for having all these “Smart Food” choices.

The Best Cocktail I have ever made…

‘Tis the night of Halloween and kiddies are out and about trick or treating – collecting their stash of candy!

We just returned from my folks house and I have to say I am so proud of myself.  While everyone enjoyed a cocktail or two before dinner, I enjoyed two glasses of water.  When the meal was brought to the table, everyone enjoyed pork and gravy, potato, corn, and a large fresh salad.  My mom makes the best salads- including at least 10 fresh ingredients or more.  So many flavors and textures.  One would think I’d be feeling sorry for myself being on a different eating regime, but I enjoyed a small salad and a large bowl of my Lentil Chili… 25 whole food ingredients- which was absolutely delicious and filling.  When everyone had dessert of homemade apple cake with ice-cream, I noticed that I didn’t even give it a thought.  Besides, I was so full AND so satisfied.  See what happens when we give our bodies the nutrition it needs?

We just arrived home and I began to think how I could treat myself to an indulgence that would be memorable.  I blended 4-6 ounces of water, 2 ice cubes, 1 package of AZUL, a scoop of Pulse 8 and an ounce of FrequenSea.  The nutritional and energy value of this is “off the chart”.  What I should have done is pour it into a large martini glass to really show it off and give it the beauty it deserved.  I suggest you try it sometime.  I have had FrequenSea and vodka before and called it a FrequenSini….but this is my 10 day cleanse… so abstained… and didn’t miss it at all.

Clocks are turned back and I am going to bed early.  November 1st is right around the corner.  Hard to believe I have been back in Vermont for 2 years now.  After living in Arizona, I am slowly getting readjusted to the cold weather… slowly!

Day 4…Cruising Along…

It’s true, when you edify and nourish the body with whole food nutrition (ie, “real food”) your body knows how to process it, and it also can take full value from the nutrition. In addition, because you are getting so many micro and macro nutrients, many cravings actually subside. The most common being craving for sweets.
Do you know that most overweight people are undernourished?

I recall the feedback I got years ago from people who did the 10 Day Challenge (keep in mind most had the S.A.D. diet, Standard American Diet). Not only did they lose unwanted body fat and weight, but two of the most profound comments I heard over and over were:
#1 How their daily elimination had dramatically improved
#2 How their cravings subsided. Both are valuable benefits that may seem small, but in reality they are huge.

Let’s take a look at elimination, which for many is a topic they were embarrassed to talk about. They would whisper in my ear that they are “regular” and feeling quite good as a result! (Well, hello…. A bowel movement once every 2 or 3 days is NOT normal!) Yes, unfortunately The S.A.D. diet is so devoid of natural fiber- (not to mention many people are under dehydrated- which adds to the issue) that they get accustomed to having bowel movements that are less than regular.

If you are reading this and have experienced issues in this arena do not take drugs for this…simply add drink 6-8+ glasses of fresh water daily, eat whole foods that are high in fiber, and if you can, add a pro-biotic each morning. Balancing the internal flora will offer you tremendous results. I am not kidding when I say many of the people who did the “10 day challenge of whole foods” found their waist line shrunk….in one case, 6” inches…in 10 days! So, folks, when people joke and tell you that you are “full of it”…. They actually might be right. (lol)

Have a healthy Saturday…. If this BLOG happens to inspire you to eat more closely to mother nature, please let me know.

Health is a habit, not an event!

Here are some HEALTHY thoughts for the day!

This weekend… take a closer look at your health, your lifestyle and your nutrition. By being more conscious I guarantee your energy will also increase as a result!

“Healthy Living- It’s not just what you eat — it’s also how you live”. Thank you, Sat Kartar, for sharing this in an email today.

“Health is not an event. Health is a way of life that is built on good choices that lead to good habits. It’s the small things we do day after day that equate to wellness or disease.”

I embrace the philosophy that our body is the greatest healer of all. Our body will perform miracles by the minute when we take responsibility by honoring the intelligence of the human body. First you have to give it the raw materials- like the whole foods I am exclusively consuming for 10 days! Just remember that the small decisions we make day after day ultimately determine our health and well-being.

Whoever said nutrition had to be a handful of pills and a frothy green drink on a Saturday? That’s not health! You don’t have to hold your nose and drink something to be healthy in fact, there’s nothing healthy about that.

And here’s a quick summary….. The right idea, the whole idea, is that if God made it, eat it. If man made it, leave it alone or eat it in moderation. It’s as simple as that.

The above content was inspired from the book, ForeverGreen, A Way of Being.

Day 3…this is easy!

I slept SO sound last night….dreamed vivid dreams and slept almost 11 hours. I guess my body needed it. I went to bed early, mainly due to a splitting headache, which is unusual for me. It wasn’t surprising though as it is part of the detox phase, which I really am grateful for. I already know when I have my blood tests taken on Monday that they will look much better than when I initially began. (After 5 days of eating this way I am sure it will show some good results. After 10- GREAT results!)

Down 3 pounds today….feeling lighter, more energetic and certainly excited to stay on track with this eating regime, and it is so easy!

My friend, Matt is coming over this morning to shoot a quick video. He is a personal trainer who names himself the “Fit Rebel”. He offers a wonderful free e-course on how to cut your workout by 50% and nearly double your results! Sign up for free at http://www.TheFitRebel.com

Until later….

Trust in Nature!

The following paragraph is from the book, “ForeverGreen, a Way of Being”.

I love the notion that indigenous cultures slice a carrot, and the inside looks like an eye to them. So they say carrots must be for the eye. In the same way, a walnut is an exact replica of the brain. White grapes and red grapes are good for white and red blood cells. Tomatoes and the heart are identical. Avocados, from blossom to seed, grow for forty weeks, and they are good for women. That’s no coincidence. It’s fascinating. Nature is its whole form is nutritionally complex so we don’t have to be. That’s the whole point of ForeverGreen.

10 Day Challenge…. * It is this notion above that prompted me to embrace nothing BUT ForeverGreen’s clean or organic whole foods- for enhanced health- energy and simply to say I could & I did!

Day 2 coming to a close….

Water: I am getting my water in me, that’s for sure! Thanks to the high fiber diet I am consuming, it is necessary to drink lots of water each day. Not only will water hydrate my cells but it will accelerate the process of eliminating toxins from my body. (Yes and keep away any dreaded future headaches!)

Q: Did you know that when your body does not have enough water that the kidneys can’t do their job efficiently? What happens then is the liver moves over to help the kidneys by assisting in whatever way it can. THEN the snow ball effect is that the liver is not able to do what it is designed to do…metabolize fat!
How quickly I forgot my anatomy and physiology so I looked up in the encyclopedia the many functions of the liver. Bottom line is this…. Drink lots of water so the kidneys do their role in health and the liver is left to do its role as well.

According to the encyclopedia: The liver is a vital organ present in vertebrates and some other animals; it has a wide range of functions, including detoxification, protein synthesis, and production of biochemical’s necessary for digestion. The liver is necessary for survival; there is currently no way to compensate for the absence of liver function.

This organ plays a major role in metabolism and has a number of functions in the body, including glycogen storage, decomposition of red blood cells, plasma protein synthesis, hormone production, and detoxification. It lies below the diaphragm in the thoracic region of the abdomen. It produces bile, an alkaline compound which aids in digestion, via the emulsification of lipids. It also performs and regulates a wide variety of high-volume biochemical reactions requiring highly specialized tissues, including the synthesis and breakdown of small and complex molecules, many of which are necessary for normal vital functions.
After reading the above description, all I can say is BE KIND TO YOUR LIVER! For me one of the best things about this 10 day challenge is keeping a pure diet AND not consuming any alcohol. That is something that can become an evening habit without much thought!
One may think my diet is boring, but I have to say that the textures and the flavors of these foods is phenomenal.

The rest of my daily diet consisted of:
Mid-Morning Snack: Pulse 8, with water
Lunch: Strawberry Pineapple Food Bar- close to 20 whole food ingredients
AZUL with marine phytoplankton- mixed with water
Mid-Afternoon Snack: Chocolate Thunder shake with 2 drops orange essential oil.
Dinner: Steaming bowl of Asian Garden Soup

Day 2….not bad at all, in fact to me this is easier than having to shop/chop and decide what is for your next meal.
